Welcome

My background consist of not only being the mother of Melanie, with whom I share this podcast with, but also Philip my son. As well, I have two female Godchildren, one is a senior in college and the other is a third grader.

My educational background consist of nearly 15 years of teaching elementary education both in Illinois and Phoenix. As well, I hold a Masters Degree in Leadership and Administration and a Doctoral Degree in Education.

From my years as a mother and as a teacher I have realized and been asked thousands of times how I can help mothers with their daughters. My own daughter needed help so I tried at an early age to give her and equip her with the necessary skills to function in this world without me.

While in elementary school I brought a running club for girls to my school called, Girls on the Run. It is a program designed to help mentor young girls through their life issues and included discussions such as bullying, self-image, etc. As well, once my daughter went to middle school as site lead I added a second program called, Heart and Sole, for middle school girls.

From those years of dealing with girls and hearing their issues I found out that I needed to keep having critical discussions with my daughter that could help her throughout her life. Conversations between mother and daughter never stop and mother will always be mothers no matter what the age of their daughters are.

Thus, The Tuff Talks was created to add to the voices that my daughter already hears, but with the hopes that mines will ring louder than others and that I will hear her voice as well!
